Maeve hails from New York, and has been identified as Native American. Maeve is a Blackfoot and part Cherokee. Her first appearance on screen was in 2005's short film Liminality. In the that same year, she starred for the first time on a large screen in the highly acclaimed comedy-drama Transamerica. The first time she appeared on television was the same year as a season four episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent . She joined the show in 2014. Dick Wolf s Chicago franchise as Nadia Decotis in Chicago P.D. . She played the character from 2015. She reprised her role in Law & Order Special Victims Unit a show from Wolf the other television franchise. That same year she started portraying Julia Wicker, the main female character in Syfy s fantasy-drama The Magicians. Stella Maeve, who had enjoyed a thriving acting career on television, continued to work on independent films. The Robert Altman Award was given to her in 2012 as a casting member in 2012's film Starlet during the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
